Indonesian Spouse Sponsored Visa (C317)

Below are the different steps to take when applying for a spouse sponsored visa. This is for a new application, not a conversion.

Follow this link to download a copy of all the paperwork you will need to complete (opens in new window). Make sure to use a black pen.

If you want to find out what it takes to convert the Indonesia Spouse KITAS to an Indonesia Spouse KITAP then you can find more info here.

  1. Create a profile on www.imigrasi.go.id
  2. Submit an online visa application
  3. 5 step verification process
  4. Visa is confirmed or declined
  5. Visit Indonesian Embassy
  6. Report to Indonesian Immigration office

Notes:

  • The immigration office recommends you use a Gmail account when registering.
  • During the profile process (step 1) and the registration process (step 2) you  will be asked to upload documentation (passports, KTP, etc … ). The format has to be in jpg or jpeg. The maximum size per uploaded document is 400kb.
  • With step 2, the information cannot be saved as a draft. This means that before you can submit you will need to have all details and paperwork ready. If you only complete half the registration and then leave midway the information will be lost when you return.
  • All links in the article below open in a new window / tab.

1. Create a profile on www.imigrasi.go.id

This is to be done by the sponsor or in this case the Indonesian husband or wife. To create a profile visit this page: https://izintinggal-online.imigrasi.go.id/ and click on the “IT Online” tab or change the language to English and click on the “Permit Online” tab. Registering can only be done from 08:00h to 16:00h Jakarta time (UTC +7).

In the dropdown menu for  “Tipe Penjamin” (type of sponsor) choose “Perorangan” (personal) and click lanjut. Here the Indonesian sponsor will have to fill in their personal details.

The sponsor will also need to upload the following documents:

  • Copy of KTP
  • Kartu Keluarga
  • Akta Kelahiran

All documents need to be in JPEG or JPG format and can only be maximum 400kb per document.

When completed you submit the data. If the registration went well the sponsor will receive an email from the Immigration department with a password to logon to the online application engine.

4. Visa is confirmed or declined

After you have gone through the 5 day waiting period you will receive another email that either confirms or declines your visa application. Assuming you have successfully applied you will receive a TELEX letter.

With this TELEX letter you will need to visit the overseas Indonesian Embassy which you have logged in the application process.

5. Visit Indonesian Embassy

You will need to plan for 3 working days to process the visa. On day 1 you visit the Embassy you will need to complete a form and leave your passport. On day 3 you will need to return to the Embassy to collect your passport.

It is also possible to use a visa agent who offers a 1-day express service. Leave a comment below if you’d like to have contact details for an agent in Singapore.

6. Convert VITAS to KITAS

You now have a VITAS which is the approval. When you return to Indonesia you need to report again online and then afterwards to the immigration office. This needs to be done within 30 days from getting the approval sticker at the overseas Indonesian Embassy.

First step: report online. This needs to be done of the following website https://izintinggal.imigrasi.go.id/IT-online/.

The “Nomor Penguasaan VITAS” is the number on your telex that starts with the letters “IMI.” followed by a combination of letters and numbers.

First screen

After you click Pelaporan (report) you get to the screen below. The email address below is for the foreigner (not sponsor). The immigration office recommends you use a Gmail account. When done click “Simpan dan Kirim”.

Second step: visit the immigration office.

After you have submitted the form above you will receive an email from the immigration office to invite you to report in person. If you do not receive this email within 2 days from submitting you need to go to the immigration office to let them know.

Either way this is what you will need to take with you:

    • Hello Marko, in chapter 2 above you can see a screen shot of the visa you need to choose. The indeks number should show “317”. As for the wedding certificate that is explained above also in chapter 2. On the top it will ask you to upload your application form, proof of funds etc … . And below that there is a mark box you have to click. After you click that box you will see the option to upload the scan of the wedding certificate. Sorry, I don’t have a screen shot of that. If you get there please take a screenshot and I will add this in the post above. Good luck 🙂

Ive been married for one year and am currently in Bali on a social budaya visa.
I wish to convert to a spouse visa , my wife has changed her KTP and Kartu Keluarga to married status . Her address on both documents still shows as Malang , Java .
We have been living at the same address for 12 years in Bali and her KIPEM shows this address.
Are we able to process our Spouse Visa in Bali.

  5. I really appreciate the time you put into this guide. It is very accurate and really helped my wife and I through the entire KITAS process. There is absolutely no reason to waste money on an agent if a person follows this guide. For those wondering, the total cost for the Limited Stay Permit (VITAS: 3 months with single entry) from KBRI Singapore and the 12 mo. Limited Stay Visa (ITAS with multiple entry) from your local Kantor Imigrasi is about Rp 3.7 million. Thanks again for all the help. 😉

  7. Hey Ketut,
thx for providing such detailed KITAS process information.
I wanted to order your document package, but the order form does not provide payment gateway “from my country”. I am in RI now.
However, we just applied for online sponsor registration, but I’d rather have an experience Indonesian handle the whole process.
I am ready to pay a resonable fee for such a service.

  8. Hi there, I am applying for my family/marriage KITAS and I want to know do I go to my consulate (Australian) or the Indonesian consulate for the Lapor Nikah / Surat keterangan bebas menikah dari konsulat? And also can you tell me what is the Telex Visa?

    Thanks

    Reply
    • Hi Rachel, the Surat keterangan bebas menikah should come from your Australian consulate and is a document you will likely have applied for previously as it is also required when you get married (at least that was the case for me). The Telex is something you will be emailed if your online application was successful. With this Telex you then go to an overseas Indonesian Embassy (e.g. Singapore). I suggest you use a Gmail account for the online application as I had lots of trouble getting emails on my Hotmail.

  9. hello and thank you very much for this guidelines 🙂
I am just still confused about the ktp and Family Card of my Indonesian Husband and Sponsor. The status has to be “married” in this two dokuments for make telex?
I dont have yet KTp of course. So how can they put me in this papers?
We also ask in Immigration in Lombok and they told us, this is not requiered.
But maybe somebody has experience about that?
I would be very thankfully for some help 🙂

    • The way it went for us (in Bali) is that the foreign husband is mentioned on the Kartu Keluarga as the father of the children (second last column). If you don’t have children I don’t know how otherwise your name could appear. As for KTP I don’t think the foreigner is to supply that. It is the Indonesian sponsor who has to supply copy of KTP. I hope it all works out for you.

  10. Thanks for your reply Ketut, I still have the original of my Surat keterangan bebas menikah from when we got married do you think I can use the original one or do I need to get a new one with a current date? They are quite expensive to get so I am hoping I can use the original. Also when scanning documents to be submitted do you know can they be in black and white or do they need to be in colour. Colour makes the size much larger it seems and you have mentioned that they cannot exceed 400kb. Thanks again for your help.

    Reply
    • I don’t think colour or black/white makes a difference. I used my old surat keterangan bebas menikah document (5+ years old). What is a big thing is that any documents you complete have to be done with black ballpoint. If you use blue ballpoint you have to redo.

    • Hello, sorry it has been a while but from memory you first apply for the Spouse Kitas and if that was succesful, you can get your name added onto the KK. After your name is on the KK you can then also get an Indonesian KTP for WNA (foreigner). Good luck and please let us know how it went or if things have changed so we can make adjustments.

    • Yes you can enter on a regular tourist visa. If you plan to stay in Indonesia for longer periods you can get a social visa (6 months I think) or get a spouse visa (1 yearly or with some more paperwork 5 yearly). Your Indonesian husband would be the sponsor of your villa. Congratulations on your upcoming wedding!!
